I think everyone should have a lake in their life. It doesn’t even necessarily have to be a lake, per say, although I am partial for your lake being a body of water of some sort. But, the lake for me is a sacred, and holy, place. A place where I feel the presence of the Lord stronger and see His wonder and beauty displayed so clearly before my eyes. It’s a place to get away from it all, a place of solitude, memories made and memories to come, a place that captures your heart and fills your soul each time you return. It’s a place where I dream and pray and live. That’s my lake. What’s yours?
Earlier this month we went back to our lake for a week and it was so good. So good. The lake strips away bedtimes, brings the gold out in your hair, and leaves your nose peeling. The sun bronzes your back, and the water is crystal clear with a white, sandy, bottom, like the ocean. It’s quiet, it’s serene.
There’s campfires every night and you go to sleep with toasted marshmallow in your hair, just because you can. You bring your pillows home from the lake house and they still smell like those every night campfires. You don’t even want to wash them to hold onto the lake for a little bit longer.

looks like a beautiful time! i love times of solitude with the Lord as well. just even a few minutes out in the backyard as the sun sets, is enough to feel His presence.

That pic with your boys hanging on to the dock with their floaties and the sun coming down is gorgeous. Sounds like a lovely time… also curious what lens you were using for these, if you remember….

I am from the Land of 10,000 Lakes, and lake life truly is magical! All my summers since I was a baby revolve around going to the lake. And even as an adult there is something so magical about those summer days. I really do feel closer to God.
