I got to sneak away to Greenville, South Carolina a couple weeks ago to spend the weekend with one of my best friends, Heather, and her family. You know the friends that feel like family after five minutes together and you could burst into tears while eating your second helping of blueberry slump cause you just can’t bear the thought of going home without them, and it’s only your first day there? Yeah. That’s how I feel about my girl and her people.
I missed my connecting flight in Newark to get to South Carolina and had to spend the night in the airport. Like, on the floor, head on my purple duffle bag, covered up with the airport blanket that the kind gentleman brought me around 2:45 AM. It actually wasn’t all that bad, except for the fact that Heather and I had been, literally, preparing our hearts to be together and we’re counting down until my plane took off so it would only be 2 hours until we were in each others arms. . . And then I had to spend the night in the airport. I cried a bit. And told a man that he looked just like Clinton Kelly from What Not to Wear, and googled him for him.
We spent our weekend laughing, crying, segway-ing, and dreaming together and it was just what I needed. Perfect, in every sense of the word. The Lord knew I just had to be with Heather that weekend and how good it would be for my heart. I feel like this Winnie the Pooh quote pretty much sums it up, How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard? I love you, friend.

Everyone needs a friend like that, one that sticks closer than a brother. Sweet post!

What a lovely little post. I could feel all the emotion in it, and the Winnie the Pooh quote was perfect. 🙂

The Pooh quote is so, so true! I'm going to see my sweet soul friend in September.

I work at the Old Cotton Warehouse right by where you were, Greenville is a really neat place (I think I can say that since I moved from somewhere else . . . ). So true about best friends, so glad you got to have a soul charging weekend!
