I don’t remember how Carina and I first crossed paths. She says she found me when I linked up to a What I Wore Wednesday post, which is quite comical. Cause what I wore Wednesday is what I wore Monday and Tuesday too. I did a little design work for her a couple years ago, we had a love affair on twitter, we formed a girl gang of 9 soul mates – her and I being two of them, and the rest is history.
My favorite people are people who love food and people who make things happen… which makes Carina my favorite person. Being a mama of five isn’t going to stop her from flying across the country with her husband and two month old. Ain’t no big thang. We formed a conspiracy that we had to get to New York. At Christmas time. Eat all the food. Have our babies fall in love for their arranged marriage in the years to come. And have our husbands become best friends too. Obviously we were successful. I mean, look at these pictures.
Our men are both die hard, slightly obsessed, Russell Wilson loving, Seahawks fans. So, naturally, when they were playing the Giants we spent way too much money on tickets to the game for them. Worth.Every.Penny. There’s something that gets me all choked up about Caleb and Nick becoming friends. He gets my need for girls cause he sees how amazing they and their families are. Nick is no exception. We love you, Nick. And will continue to talk about you on a daily basis.
Carina and I are total foodies and pretty much the same person. Except I am a morning person and she’s Catholic. Besides that: THE SAME. We are super indecisive about which restaurants to go to cause we don’t want to miss out on all the best food in New York. Almost every single one of our dreams came true this year. We went to a cozy fireplace bar, with red curtains and dim lighting. We saw a show… Carina falling asleep in it was more funny than the show itself. The Spotted Pig in Greenwich made me feel like I was in The Holiday, which is the best feeling in the world… especially when you are drinking the Nightingale cocktail and eating the shoestring fries. We strolled and sipped our way through Eatly. Had lemon ricotta pancakes at Sarabeth’s. We ate french macarons, the snow fell and kept on falling, we squeezed too many people into taxis, and had a little outer space photoshoot in the Marc Jacobs photo truck. We laughed, we passed our babies back and forth, and we stayed up too late. The lights, the storefronts, Bryant Park, & our cozy apartment were simply delightful. But being together in New York was the most magical thing of all. Until next time, I love you, New York.
