I never have quite the right words to say when talking about Hope Spoken. Every time I come home from it I have to take weeks to even process all the Lord has done in my heart there. It’s a little quirky hotel in Dallas that is sacred ground for me. I see broken made beautiful, stories of redemption, songs of praise to our King, a conference that isn’t a conference at all but sisters in Christ pointing each other to our good, good Father.
There’s an elevator that isn’t doing so hot, the sweet hotel staff that simply cannot refill the coffee and guacamole fast enough, there’s no airport shuttle, and maybe we shouldn’t have put as many push pins in the wall for those paper flowers. Whoops. But there’s Jesus. And it’s not at all about us, but it’s all about Him. When you experience Jesus in ways you have been longing for, when He opens your eyes to His grace and you feel Him rescue you, when those burdens don’t have to be on your shoulders anymore, because they were never yours to carry… it’s Hope Spoken.
It’s a dream come true for me to be able to plan and host this event with my very best friend. I mean, how amazing is God that He lets us live this out? And how amazing is it that we get to love on all these women each year?
Hope is a word we throw around so easily. I hope to lose ten pounds, or thirty. Wait what? I hope I can go on vacation. I hope I can do this, that, and the other thing. But my hope in Christ isn’t at all like that definition of it.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. // Romans 5:1-5
I am so thankful we got to celebrate THAT HOPE this weekend. A hope that doesn’t disappoint us. I’m the most wonderful mixture of exhausted, filled up, and made whole, and I’m running towards Jesus face.
Thank you, precious sisters, for joining us in Dallas this weekend. We know that it was by no mistake that each and every one of you was together with us. You are treasures. Every single story, and letter, and note, and social media tag we received, read, we cried along with, we smiled and nodded at, were whispers of grace and shouts of His glory, and our very heart for Hope Spoken. We love you.
