Hi, I’m Lesley and I ramble about stuff in my life over at my blog, recipe for crazy.
I’m so excited to be over here today! Like all of you, I totally love Danielle and her honest and funny posts.
I remember when I was little wishing so badly to grow up. I wanted to drive, then when I had a car, I wanted to go to college, then I wanted a real job so I could make money and have a house and get married. Then, I realized how all of a sudden, I was grown up. Where did the time go?
My husband and I now have a sweet little one year old, Sweet P. I find myself no longer wishing time to go by so quickly. I want to be here, in this moment. Present.
This is one of my favorite pictures right now because it reminds me to embrace this moment.
Sweet P has been teething and it’s been rough on her. Sometimes it doesn’t seem to bother her, but other times she wakes up every hour crying in pain. Those sleepless nights are tough but the next day is usually followed by a pitiful little girl who just wants to rest in her mommy’s arms.
I want to be present because one day it won’t be me that’s holding her and making her pain go away.
The book we’re reading is about farm words and will bring me the book and point to the cat (she has a serious love for cats) and ask me what it is. Over. And over. And over. Seriously, she’ll point to the cat like 10 times in a row before moving on to a new animal, then it’s back to the cat! I find myself wanting her to point to another animal, turn the page or find a different book but then I remind myself that one day she won’t need me to tell her what it is and what noise it makes.
I want to be present because one day she’ll be reading on her own and teachers will be helping her learn.
There’s something in this photo that makes me laugh: the potato head without eyes. Sweet P is pretty tough and very determined but there’s also a super sensitive side to her. She doesn’t like the potato head if the eyes are on. It makes her cry. But, take the eyes off and she’ll carry it around and talk to it. It’s who she is, my little softy.
Although I don’t always understand the things that make her cry, I want to be present and make her world a little happier – even if it just means hiding some eyeballs from her!
So I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes:
“Life moves pretty fast.
If you don’t stop and look around once in a while,
you could miss it.”
And yes, that’s from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
Thanks, Danielle, for letting me share your space today!

Hi Danielle!
I´m Mirys, a reader of Lesley, and today she invited me (us) to see your blog. And I love it! It´s very cute and seems to be very interesting and helpfull (I didn´t have time to see all of it yet… so I´ll spend some time here, ok?).
What a great choise you make: I´m a Lesley´s fan, love her writing and this one is very special! I couldn´t agree more with her!!!
There is a brazilian music that goes like this: "you need to love people as there is no tomorrow… because if you think it right, actually, there isn´t!" (meaning: all we really have is TODAY! So enjoy it, love your loved ones right now).
Kisses and blessings.
