scenes from the past few days:
fostie bear.
brody finding “blue’s clues” everywhere. he’s got one awesome daddy, who makes awesome post-it note clues, which produce sheer and utter joy and excitement.
could it be that they are playing with the same toy and not attacking each other? don’t be fooled, it’s just the calm before the storm.

the response to the beauty book has been more than i ever thought possible, and my heart is bursting because of it. i may be enlisting aubrey to create another book. my hope is that books will be circling around and blessing women out for a really long time.
i can already see Christ working in so many of you who have emailed me. just by sharing what you think of when you hear the word beautiful, i am changed.
thank you, to all 75 of you, who have emailed already. i am so excited to be a part of this with each of you.

my garage sale finds!!
hello, my kids have every push toy, bike and cozy coupe ever created. all for less than the cost of one of them new.

vintage raggedy ann and andy art work for 10 cents each. that’s TEN CENTS. also, my husband and i bonded over scamper the penguin and other feature films for families, as i am pretty sure, we were the only two children in the world in 1995 that were hooked on riggaletto, the buttercream gang, scamper the penguin, and split infinity. if your parents were pro conservative “christian” (no one is really sure if they were christian or not…) movies for kids you may know what i’m talking about…mmkay.
this thing! i have no idea what it is, and neither did the sweet old lady who i bought it from. do you know? it stretches out like a gate you would put at the top of your stairs for babies, and it has these fabulous pegs all over it. $1.50, people. it could be around 6 feet long if i wanted it to be. can’t you envision it in a dining room…spray painted…with vintage tea cups hanging off all those pegs? if only i had a dining room. i DO have big plans for this though. in our bedroom. stay tuned.
$.25 for this glass jug. no idea what will fit into it or what i am doing with it. but it was $.25. fo realz.
vintage hankies all around! $.25 each! yes, please. i’ll take them all and make a bunting out of them. thankyaverymuch.
i said don’t be jelly. i warned you.

have a happy day…
and that’s not just a cheesy saying.
it’s been proven true.
what now.
April

Leslie @ top of the page

My aunt had one of those wooden stretchy peg things when I was little. She collected coffee mugs and hung them on that contraption. One of my most vivid memories of her home. Fun fun!
Mindy Harris
deez vuz a very cute post…i have no idea what that wooden thingy is. is it supposed to be for towels?
also, what about filling that awesome jar with spare change? see how much you can save in a year then go spend it on something fun, like a family day!
i see sheets and hankies at estate sales all the time but get overwhelmed. we don't have full or queen in our house…are you repurposing them?
it's 1:30a.m. i hafto go to bed. loves.
Brianna Renee
such a precious smile with the baby teeth and all 🙂
nicole
oh the hankies for a quarter, are you kidding. we actually use hankies instead of tissues! great finds.
♥ Nia
That wooden thing is an old clothes rack 🙂
It's placed on the wall (when opened it makes a diamond shape) and each hanger is for clothes.
But, of course, you can always use it for other things as you wish 🙂
Alaythea
Yeah my mom had one of those peg stretchy things and she used it for hanging dish towels up! The stretch it nice because you can make it fit wherever you need! And you totally got some great finds – my dad got my daughter a "car" just like that yellow and green on for free at a "trash swap", all it needed was a new screw on the door and it was good as new! She loves it!

First of all Foster looks SO much like you! It's so adorable! Both your boys are so stinkin' cute…..love it! 🙂 Oh and yes, I am jelly of those amazing garage sale finds! I LOVE garage sales and haven't had much luck so far this year. Hopefully soon 🙂

ann @ my life as prose.
the stretchy peg thingy is meant for exactly what you plan to do with it … we had one in our home and we would hang sweaters or jackets on the pegs. 🙂
danielle @ take heart
@ ann – i'm not using it to hang clothes though 🙂

wow! i didnt know anyone else watched the buttercream gang, scamper the penguin & split infinity. As for rigaletto? I think I missed that one. Haha awesome.
Handbags*and*Pigtails
Yup, the peg thing is for the wall-think of a drying rack or a home without closets. Ive got small ones here(ive never seen one that big). And that awesome glass jug? Use it for your spare change and at the end of the year do something fun with the money(think of it as a classier version of those "boob job fund" jars.) yes, I went there. I had to so you'd know what I meant.
Love your hankies and vintage sheets. I have quite the collection myself. most of them I stole from my mom; others Ive scored at thrift stores. BTW, theres an entire blog dedicated to all things vintage sheets-google it!
xo
eloranicole
i happen to know riggaletto, buttercream gang AND split infinity. watched them daily. i blame buttercream gang for tree house envy.
Mrs. Kee
Oh my word! I LOVED Riggaletto!!! I didn't have it but my cousins did and every time we went to their house (which was every weekend almost) I wanted to watch it!!! You're not the only ones!!!
jen
we had every movie from that company-buttercream gang (did you see the 2nd one??), riggaletto, the one where the girl goes back in time..on and on.
jealous of your garage sale finds!
Lauren Battershell
You have the best garage sells of anyone. Like, your garage sell people need to come tell my garage sell people how to do a garage sell. ASAP.

I about died at that list of movies because those were a list of my faves growing up!
Aubrey
totally jelly 😉

I hate you for finding all that stuff.
Also, I want to bodyslam you in the kiddie pool.
Amy
So I was super-excited to read this post because I have never met anyone outside of my immediate family who watched Feature Films for Families. Growing up, that was all I was allowed to watch, so I definitely grew up with the Buttercream Gang. 🙂 I still have every movie that was on your list.
Melissa
I love a good garage sale find! I am such a weirdo, but I kind of get a high off finding stuff for next to nothing! p.s. CUTE eye shadow!
thechattymommy
have you checked the raggedy ann things on ebay. they look like they could be worth something!

Lindsey Jo
i'm a feature films for families kid. great yard sale finds!
Cory
Bahahaha I used to love Scamper the Penguin! I had totally forgotten about it! I also really need those hankies! If I have a baby girl she will need that hankie bunting over her crib!
Dana
Wonder how long it would take me to get to where you are from NC to go yard saling (selling, saleing… sp…lol) with you!?! You find the GREATEST things! I never find sweet stuff like that around here.

stephanie
HELLO! holy garage sale finds! i need you to come shop with ME! for realz.
Kimberly
I bought vintage hankies at a garage sale last month also…10 cents!! I couldn't leave them there. I bought them all. =)
Kiri
*gasp* I LOVE Scamper!!
The peg thing is a hat rack…my hubby and I are getting ready to have a garage sale this weekend and while going through his things we found a box of caps and he said "I need a rack to put these all on." I SO need that!!!
Bekah
I am sure several people have already answered this, but the stretchy thing with pegs is a hat/clothing rack! I have one in my sons room for hit hats and jackets. Its a nifty little thing! Of course…yours is HUGE in comparison, mine probably only has about 10 pegs.
Jami Nato
Buttercream gang!! LOL
hannah singer
i want to go garage sale shopping with you.
buttercream gang and the like: solid gold.
xo
you are beautiful.
Candace McClintick
