hello, take heart readers!
my name is hannah singer, and i am so grateful danielle asked me to be here with y’all today.
i am overwhelmed with excitement for the burkleos as they are expecting not one,
but two additions to their darling family. praise jesus!
this is me, my husband patrick and our wild little beastie adorable boy, elijah grey.
today i want to share briefly just a few things that are on my heart about adoption.
in late august three years ago, we got a phone call about a baby that needed a home.
that baby would be ours.
my husband and i adopted our son, elijah grey, right after christmas in 2008.
we had the blessing of being at the hospital for his birth and bringing him home with us right away!
our experience was unique and things will likely be incredibly different the next time around.
god really rocked our socks!
you can read elijah’s story on my blog.
after experiencing the death of a dream, to give birth to lots and lots of babies, we were devastated.
hope was not lost! the lord gave us peace and joy beyond measure.
there was and is sweet fellowship with the father through disappointment and suffering.
while we are not able to have biological children, we would have chosen adoption to grow our family anyway. adoption was not our “plan b”. it just became clear that it was to take priority in our family.
adoption is a a big deal to god. he is the father to the fatherless(psalm 68:5).
really, the center of the gospel is not only god’s redemption of us as sinners,
but his adopting us into his kingdom.
making us daughters and sons, his children.
ephesians 1:3-6 says,
“blessed be the god and father of our lord jesus christ, who has blessed us in christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through jesus christ, according to the purpose of his will,
to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the beloved.”
so, why wouldn’t we want to adopt? this is huge.
adoption is a special, beautiful way that god puts his grace on display!
taking children, without moms and dads, and joining them to our family.
just as christ has joined us into his family.
the adoption journey has many ups and downs.
families who are going through this beautiful, emotional process need lots of encouragement and prayer. they’ll need you to cry with them over the frustrations, disappointments or even failed placements.
they also need you to celebrate the with them the amazing joy
of being matched with a child and bringing that child home!
we don’t know what our future holds.
our desire is to bring more sweet children into our family through adoption.
in the meantime, we are thrilled to come alongside other adoptive families
and support in any and every way we can.
isn’t it beautiful, that everyone can have a part in changing the life of a child?
there are well over 120 thousand orphans in the united states.
over 140 million worldwide.
these numbers alone should be kindling a desire to help the fatherless.
are you being called to adopt?
are you able to contribute finances to help families who are called?
have you been praying for orphans? praying for other adoptive families?
i challenge you today, dear ones. open your heart and mind, seek jesus
about your position in this crisis of fatherless little ones. ask god for a heart for orphans.
as a side note, a few personal recommendationsJ
this is a great place to begin getting questions answered and more information about adoption.
also, adopted for life and reclaiming adoption are two fantastic reads.
be aware though, they just may be used to change your life!

Hannah you know I love your story. Adoption has been on my heart forever and I have been trying to convince my husband. I feel like now, if it were to be our calling we'd both be feeling it. Each day I pray that the lords will be done in our lives…maybe someday it will be. Loves!
