I’m Danielle — I’m a wife and mama to six, in upstate NY. I’m born and raised here. For a long time I imagined moving away but in the past two years I’ve fallen in love with where we live all over again. Our family is currently restoring and updating our farmhouse built in 1850. I love making our home our own, design, and all things cozy. This is our third house remodel and I hope we don’t have another in the not-so-distant future. I started this blog in 2009 (say wha!) and a whole lot has changed sine then but these remain the same: I love the mountains and the ocean, I feel God the most there. New York will always be the greatest city, it makes me come alive. There is nothing quite like the peace the Adirondacks bring to my heart. You’ll find me the kitchen a lot and one day my best friend and I will write a cookbook. I’ll let you know when it’s out. I start to play Christmas music the second we get home from trick or treating. The holiday season is my happy place. But also, summer forever. Every part of me wants to squeeze the most out of every precious day we have, so I do. Gimme a board game and an organized family field day and I’m a happy girl: think Dan in Real Life meets Cheaper by the Dozen and I’m living the dream. Some of my very favorite things, in no particular order: adoption, seeing my kids faces on Christmas morning, girls weekends, surprising people, date nights, feeling the sun on my face, reading aloud to my kids, writing, Central park, romcoms, being fully present, twinkle lights, kayaking, describing (in great detail) the meal I just ate that changed my life, learning to run for the 100th time, a house full of family, laughing at myself, watching women step into who they are called to be, homemade pizza, sitting around the fire. Travel makes my heart happy — but when I’m home, I’m hooooome. I absolutely love being a mom and my only career goal in my 20s was to have a house full of kids. Mission accomplished. Motherhood challenges me and is still my greatest adventure yet. I met the best people I know on the internet, including the cute guy I married and all my best friends. I like to say I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was a kid. Started off with garage sales and moved onto yarn wreaths and then self-taught graphic design, followed by finding my dream job in leading a team of incredible, out-of -this-world women who challenge and inspire me every day.
“When your life is filled with the desire to see holiness in everyday life, something magical happens: Ordinary becomes extraordinary, and the very process of life begins to nourish your soul.” – Harold Kushner
