My best friend pinned this the other day and it was yet another confirmation of my word for the year. I’m pretty sure I thought words for the year were silly a few years ago. Then 2013 happened and the Lord rocked my world… with my word. Not only did He make me brave for Him, He weaved stories of bravery into my life and I was inspired by so many others around me for their brave choices, their brave lives, and their brave hearts. John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, then you will be free indeed.
At first, when I kept coming back to free, I was all Why do you keep whispering free to me, Lord? And in these past few weeks, it has become so clear. I want to be free. I want to live in complete truth and nothing less. John 8:32 And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
My prayer is to be free of comparison, free of fears, free of anything that is holding me back, holding me captive, from fully loving and serving my Jesus. 2 Corinthians 3:17 Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.
When the world has broken me down, Your love sets me free.

My word for 2014 is free, too! Based on 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. At first, I was all 'God, this doesn't even have the word free in it' and then I got it. When the burden is lifted, there's no more weight- it's freeing. When I live out His commands, loving Him and loving others, I will experience freedom. I'm excited for 2014:)
