today: celebrate in the waiting

a little over a year ago we signed a whole lot of papers, wrote a hefty check, and committed to working with our now agency to grow our family through adoption. and then… surprise! i was pregnant with our sweet story. our names renamed on the waiting list until it got close to my due date, and the agency had told us that we could be active as a waiting family again when story was six months old. well, that time as come, our updated profile, picture, and paper work are all complete, and as i type these words my heart is all a flutter. i just, seconds ago, got off the phone with our case worker and when she said, congratulations, consider yourselves active! i had to blink back a few tears. yes, we could still have much time ahead of us in this adoption process. yes, there will most likely be twists and turns down this could-be-messy road we’re taking. but, i couldn’t help but feel my heart move, and be gripped with love for those precious mamas who may look at our picture today, tomorrow, next month, or next year, and read the words that we poured out to them.

yes, today we wait some more.

but our waiting is filled with so much hope.

How can I keep from singing Your praise
How can I ever say enough
How amazing is Your love
How can I keep from shouting Your name
I know I am loved by the King
And it makes my heart want to sing

  12. Yay my sweet friend!!! This is so exciting!!! I think you should re-open your wreath shop. It's been so long and everytime I see mine it reminds me of your sweet growing family.

  19. Congratulations! Can't wait to see where God leads. We are in the process of adopting domestically again…already have had a few bumps in the road, but that will make the end destination that much sweeter…

  20. Yay! We just submitted a preliminary adoption application to the dept of social services last week.

  21. So excited.. Adopting our little one, completed us! God is good, and He always brings us through the wait! Find comfort in that!

  27. As someone who is adopted I APPLAUD you for opening you heart even after you were blessed with Story! The waiting is the worst part i am sure, but the life you are giving to that child is PRICELESS! If your child never tells you…just by being open to adoption you have changed a life, and created a legacy that will be proudly passed down forever.
