holy cow this is long. i am not good at short answers. so here is part one of three…or maybe four. or five.
1. tell me about your hair
(i combined all the hair questions into one)
you all make me laugh. no, it’s not extensions, jami. but if i ever cut it i will mail it to you so it can become your extensions. and yes, you can make out with it, emily.
so, this is my hair if i just let it air dry.
0
it used to be much curlier before kiddos. it still gets really curly if i scrunch it just not THIS curly. 2005.
with out further ado, here is my secret to getting the flowy, waved look:
hot curlers like your grandma uses. you heard it here.
you can let your hair air dry or blow dry it first and then just pop those babies in all over your head. let them get really hot first so you get some stellar waves. i never do it the same, i just use whatever ones i can find in my messy bathroom and leave them on for 20 minutes …or two hours depending on how chaotic my house is at the time. for real, you can put them anywhere and it will look fabulous, take my word for it. then take ’em out, run your hands through and hairspray til you gag. it looks like you spent a lot of time on your hair but really ya just threw some curlers in.
simple as that.
2. can you tell me about your makeup/beauty routine?
my mom called me when she read those questions hysterically laughing about my beauty routine. i’m sure my sisters and husband will join in on the hysterics because my makeup bag holds makeup from three years ago and it is literally a HOT MESS. and i buy makeup made for tweens. that would be twelve year olds. that is my secret. and i’ll tell you all about it.
i use pantene pro-v shampoo and conditioner, or garnier fructis. whichever is on sale when i need to buy it. and i use no products in my hair just hair spray. suave. it’s like $.99.
i wash my face with plain old dove soap. i like it. i use maybelline eye make up remover. cause it’s cheap and takes off my eye makeup. i have no other requirements.
i don’t put foundation or concealer all over my face. i ever so lightly dab covergirl clean concealer onto any problem spots. aka zits. aka i am 24 and still break out when imma get my period. but that’s it. i try not to wear any at all, if possible.
i use OLD dark brown mascara that has hardly anything left in it whatsoever and run it through my eyebrows. the woman who did my makeup for my wedding did to my eyebrows and i have been doing it ever since. it tames them and adds a tiny bit of color to fill em in without using a pencil. try it, and thank me.
mascara for my actual eyelashes: lashblast volume blasting mascara. i use it cause it’s volume blasting, duh. right now i have a brown and a very black. i use the brown first and then the very black. i don’t know why, i just do. and i’m only doing cause i have both right now…when one runs out so does the trend.
i always wear a shade of brown eyeshadow. i think it looks best with my blue eyes. then i usually brush some lighter eyeshadow (taupe, shimmery cream or my favorite…gold) under my eyebrows, in the corner of my eye and just a touch under my eyes. i will buy pretty much any brown eyeshadow that’s on clearance but, l’oreal hip duo’s is my favorite. i love them so much that i will sometimes even buy them full price. gasp.
i line right under my eyes with brown liquid eyeliner. no name for you guys here cause i don’t even know what kind i have. very likely that i bought mary kate and ashley last time. #teeniebopper.
same with bronzer and lipstick, i buy whatever color i want, no certain brand. i know i keep saying i buy clearance but it’s true. i find the red sticker and buy it. i use a tiny bit of bronzer on my cheeks instead of any sorta blush. i have really rosy cheeks and i would like them to be more golden-ish then enhance the red-ness.
do YOU have any good lipsticks for me?
AND HERE IT IS. HOLD ONTO YOUR SEATS LADIES, CAUSE THIS IS MY SECRET WEAPON.
i have had friends and random people ask me how i get a “glowy” look many times. i have literally pretended to have a coughing attack or changed the subject because i was ashamed to admit i used BONNE BELL glimmer bronze. well, i am not ashamed anymore. this is the method to my maddness, the peanut butter to my jelly, the apple of my eye. and any other “we go together/i am in love with you” slogan that you can think of. bonne bell makes lip smackers, you know you used it. or you may have bought it for your six year old daughter yesterday. that it is. i take a big brush and dip it and lightly brush all over my face. it doesn’t add an actual color to your face, just this slight shimmer and glow. heavenly. go buy this now at wal mart, target doesn’t carry it. target’s one and only flaw. or go order like 12 of them right here. cause they are $3.95.
3. are you planning on having more children?
yes! more babies, please!
4. how did you pick your boys names?
we named our boys names we love and used family middle names.
my husband LOVED brody and gave me no option but to use it. and i loved it, too… so i agreed. my sister told me it sounded like an underwear model’s name. but, his name means far more … brody = a muddy ditch. his middle name is timothy, my dad’s name.
we took longer to decide on foster’s name, just because i am queen indecisive. my sister told me it sounded like a professor. foster’s middle name is anderson, my mom’s maiden name. his initials are FAB cause he is fabulous.
i love a lot of books. the best one i have read recently is the guernsey literary and potato peel pie society. i am currently reading one thousand gifts.
6. what’s your favorite passage of scripture?
i love the book of james.
7. why haven’t we ever skyped?
i don’t know! can we change that please?
8. how are your eyes so blue?
i believe that would be my mom and dad’s fault.
9. what is something you are looking forward to?
florida with my three guys in april! my husband needs a vacation and i need a tan.
10. what are you just dying to tell me about?
11. i’m infatuated that you live in upstate NY. have you always lived there? what do you like/not like about it?
i have always lived in upstate new york. born and raised and i LOVE it here. i love being 3-4 hours or so from so many awesome places: boston, manhattan, the ocean. i love the change of seasons. autumn in new york makes a girl melt. i’m a new york girl and don’t plan on changing that…ever. the only negative, which i am now only seeing clearly because of having two little ones, is the winters are long. really long. i like winter, sometimes i love it. but, it does make us all a little stir crazy now.

14. when & why did you get your nose ring? does it make you feel as awesome as you look?
i got my nose pierced the week after my honeymoon. i was 20. i would have gotten it done much sooner but no daughter of my dad’s was going to have a hole through their nose living under his roof. although i’m pretty sure i’m gonna take my baby sister out this summer and corrupt her by getting her nose pierced. what now, dad? i don’t think rin will not be getting the kicked outta the house threat. funny how that works. i forget i have it all.the.time. then an elderly person stares at me funny and i remember. i love it and never get sick of it.
13. Do you have any tattoos? Would you get any tattoos and if so, what?
i have no tattoos and no plans of getting any. but maybe some day… 14. how did you last so long breast feeding your babies, when you had such a hard time doing it?
i have no idea. i blame bouts of postpartum depression, emotions, and raging hormones. 15. How are the morning workouts going?
uhh. i was hoping no one would have asked that. i am still working out. not in the mornings. a couple nights a week. and there were a few weeks i didn’t go at all. thanks for reminding me to get my butt back to the gym.

Leslie @ top of the page
love it all! you always make me laugh and your hair is killer. ok, my mom was a little right about the hot rollers. fine! you both win, and also look awesome while doing so. and i'm seeing foster work his monogram into conversations while hitting on girls later in life. "hey, you know what my initials spell?(wink)"
Ebony
Oh my, your hair is SO gorgeous!
Anna @ Blissful Whimsy
Hey Danielle I just had to tell you that I use grandma hot curlers too. I have since I was like 13. I love them. Curling irons just don't cut it :o)
Jessi
so much to say.
a) I think we have very similar hair except mine is very damaged. I love some hot rollers like no other. I also LOVE Suave shampoo/conditioner – the rosemary mint flavor smells like Aveda, it's $2.
b) I'd love to skype and talk about post partum depression.
c) I like that you mention Boston before Manhattan on the list of cool places you're close too.
d) If I had hot legs like yours I'd never workout in the morning. Is that creepy? OH well, so be it.
e) I'm going to go read James this morning.
Love you lady!
Michelle Richards
You are SO beautiful! I'm laughing because I have the same shampoo, foundation, eye shadow, and mascara.
Loved seeing a bit of you and getting to know you a bit better!

what a fun post! i love cheap makeup, too. my problem is i don't know how to throw any away when it gets old; i just get a new makeup bag and start all over. i'm currently on my fourth. but i'll sometimes go back and use something from the old ones, so i can't toss them!
Alyssa
I'm in upstate NY too! Maybe we're neighbors! Love this post- I want to go buy that Bonne Belle shimmer!

I, for the first time since I was like 7, am growing my hair out. I usually stop because it's so stick straight and thin that I chicken out and cut it. But I'm in LOVE with loose curls and thought I'd try it out. I couldn't figure out how all you girls with long wavy curls in your hair did it. I tried curlers but like I said, my hair is so stick straight and fine that I couldn't wrap them up in the curlers hardly at all. So I finally called my old hairstylist and she walked me through doing it with a curling iron and I haven't turned back since! LOVE it and I LOVE your hair….jealous that yours takes less work! 🙂
Katie
Love! Glad other people have ridiculous beauty habits. 🙂
Heather @ Life Made Lovely

I was kinda joking with my questions but I feel famous that they got posted. We use similar beauty deals. Herbal essence. $4 green and pink tube of mascara. And I use one compact of powder a year. Hahaha. That's prob not good for my skin? Oh well.
Heather
You are just too cute! And you hair is pretty awesome! 😉
audrey

April

Your hair is beautiful. I can see why so many people were asking about it. I have been considering growing mine out again because I get bored with one style after a while. Thanks so much for popping by my blog. It means the world to me and I can't wait to come back here again and again 🙂 Pleasure to meet you. Yeah for new blog buddies.
mel @ the larson lingo
Your hair rocks. I have hair envy! And, I have been known to rock the hot rollers also. Hotness!!! Love all your answers…and I must say, I am jealous you live on the east coast during the Fall. i am OBSESSED with fall leaves….on my bucket list is to drive up the New England coast during October so I can see all the Foliage. I live in California (born and raised) and we don't really get Fall here….it is my most favorite season, EVER!
